- No grid, no problem — the sensors live like the site does. Solar-charged, battery-buffered nodes run for months to years between visits, with remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates. If the site survives on solar and diesel, so does its monitoring.
- Coverage ends; the data doesn't. Private LoRaWAN carries sensor data kilometres to a gateway you own; the gateway backhauls over 4G where it exists and satellite where it doesn't. Everything buffers locally — a connectivity gap delays the upload, never the recording.
- Heat, dust and animals included. Hardware is specified for Kalahari summers, dust and the attention of livestock and wildlife — rugged enclosures, no delicate cabling runs, mounting out of reach where it matters.

How does monitoring work at a site with no power and no signal?
The node powers itself — solar panel, battery, months of autonomy — and speaks LoRaWAN to a gateway that can be kilometres away at the nearest point with backhaul, or straight to satellite where there is none. No grid, no mobile network, no problem: the site's remoteness is the design assumption, not an edge case.
What can you monitor at a cattle post or farm site?
The usual kit covers borehole pump status and water level, tank and trough levels, solar system health, diesel tank level, genset run-hours, gate or shed access events and cold-room temperature. Each site's kit is chosen from what that site runs — there's no minimum configuration.
Can it detect fuel theft?
It detects what theft looks like in data: a tank level that steps down with no genset run-time, drops at odd hours, or consumption that doesn't match logged usage — with time-stamps. Paired with a gate or access sensor, you also know when the site was entered. What you do with the pattern is up to you; proving it stops being the hard part.
How long do the sensors run without a visit?
Battery-only sensors typically run for years; solar-charged nodes indefinitely, subject to a panel wipe when someone is passing anyway. Health telemetry — battery state, signal quality — is itself monitored, so a node that will need attention appears on the dashboard weeks before it goes quiet.
What does remote site monitoring cost in Botswana?
It scales with sites and sensors. The pattern that works: instrument your five to ten most annoying sites first — the longest drives, the most expensive failures — under a written cost band from a free remote assessment, then expand on the evidence of the first saved trips and caught failures.
