addanode builds its own hardware and its own software. That decision — unusual for a company our size — exists for one reason: imported monitoring platforms assume stable power, fast networks and an on-call instrumentation technician. Most African sites have none of the three.

What we build

addaNet — one platform, sensor to dashboard.

addaNet is our Industrial IoT platform. It connects the sensors, meters, instruments and PLCs a site already owns — over 500 industrial protocols including Modbus, OPC-UA and MQTT — into live dashboards, threshold alerts and audit-ready reports. Where a measurement is missing, we add our own low-power sensor hardware. One team is accountable from the field device to the dashboard.

Everything is engineered around three facts of frontier-market operations:

Power fails

Devices are low-power and battery-buffered; gateways log locally through outages and diesel changeovers, then back-fill the record. No gaps in your OEE or compliance data.

Networks drop

Store-and-forward edge gateways over LoRaWAN or 4G — chosen per site, per coverage reality. Dashboards stay usable on a phone over 3G.

Maintenance is thin

Long-life batteries, remote diagnostics and over-the-air updates: hardware designed for months between site visits, supported by engineers on WhatsApp.

Our engineering team and hardware base are in Johannesburg, South Africa, where addanode has its deepest deployment footprint (see addanode.co.za).

Across twenty-one country markets we deliver through a model proven across Southern Africa: remote assessment → pre-configured hardware shipped to site → installation with local partners or your own electricians under our remote guidance → live monitoring and WhatsApp support. Configurations are adapted to each country's power, coverage and industry reality — a Naivasha packhouse and a Tema factory do not get the same design.

Through our sister company CISH (China Industrial Service Hub), the group has delivered 20+ complete production lines across 8 African countries — line sourcing from vetted Chinese manufacturers with engineering selection, FAT/SAT, installation and commissioning. Where a monitoring enquiry becomes a production-line project (or the reverse), the two teams work together under the same group, sharing the phone number you'll find in the footer.

Engineering honesty is the sales pitch.

  • Real numbers or no numbers. We quote cost bands and payback logic in writing after a remote assessment.
  • Start with what you own. If your PLCs and meters can be read, we read them. New hardware only where a measurement is missing.
  • Real locality. Every country page carries that market's own regulators, utilities, tariffs and operating constraints, researched market by market — and where a configuration is adapted from our Southern African deployments, we describe it as exactly that.
  • Engineers answer. WhatsApp and discovery calls go to people who design these systems, not to a script.
