With grid supply unreliable and national grid failures reported repeatedly in recent years, most Nigerian factories run on generators or gas engines for much of the day. Each self-generated kilowatt-hour carries a heavy cost — which means measurement here pays back faster than almost anywhere else.
  • Most plants meter the incomer, not the lines. One meter at the gate can't say which line, compressor or cold store is burning the diesel. Per-line and per-asset submetering is where "we spend too much" becomes "line 3 on night shift is the problem".
  • Changeovers are frequent enough to matter. Grid-to-generator transfers happen daily on many sites. A transfer that drops a line for minutes, several times a day, is a larger annual loss than most breakdowns — but it only shows up if transfers are logged as events.

Can you detect a failed generator changeover automatically?

Can it catch an overnight power failure in a cold store?
